heat wave

summer 2015

I’ve been to the beach exactly twice this summer. Twice. As in two times: once, in June, when it was deceptively cold, and the second, where I was able to get a decent amount of color. Obsessive exfoliation has since buffed away any and all hint of bronzed-ness.

I’m so over shorts this summer. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older—or (more likely) it’s because I haven’t worked out and my derrière is looking a little less perky than I’d like for Daisy Duuke—but I prefer baring hints of skin. A bronzed décolletage and a sliver of the midriff are enough; whatever skin is out is decorated with the prettiest of gold jewelry.

A relaxed, cuffed jean for casual days and a fitted white pencil skirt is the daily uniform. And for the days I do make it to the shore, I’m dreaming of the Kiini ‘Tuesday’ setOne day. For Tulum, if/when I do I’ll make the splurge.

Thick, strappy heels only this summer—effortless should be comfortable, no?—in a rich tan leather to barely distinguish from the color of my skin. If I could have thinner, mile-long legs I would, but I don’t. Alas, cheating will have to do.

And to finish: a leather Clare Vivier, of course. This is the summer of minimalism. Toss in my lip balm, my SPF, cash, cards, RMS Living Luminizer, and go.

.   .   .

the look: leather pouch + gold jewelry (lariat, rings) + white ribbed knit crop top + cuffed boyfriend jeans + tan cross strap high heel sandals + thin gold hoops + white pencil skirt + all things rosie + blue kiini bikini
